Background and education
Dr. Guy Ball is an orthopedic surgeon at Rochester Hills Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, specializing in shoulder, hip and knee surgery. Originally from Mount Pleasant, Michigan, he majored in physiology at Alma College, where he was a four-year member of the golf team, and earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at McLaren Oakland, then a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Massachusetts, where he trained under Dr. Brian Busconi, provided on-field coverage for the Boston Red Sox and their AAA affiliate, the Worcester Red Sox, and served as a team physician for Worcester State University football and men’s hockey.
Surgical expertise and patient care
Dr. Ball has a particular focus on complex shoulder procedures, including revision shoulder replacement, the open Latarjet procedure and arthroscopic shoulder stabilization. He is dedicated to hip preservation, using hip arthroscopy to help joints last, and he performs ACL and multi-ligament knee reconstructions for amateur and professional athletes.
Whether he is helping a college athlete recover from an ACL injury or a patient get back on the golf course after hip surgery, he brings the same dedication and compassion to every case.
